Strange December

Katalin Kiszel-Kohari - December 31, 2020

The plan was, that we were kept putting off making menus for our New Year’s Gala Dinner. Reason being the vagaries of this horrible pandemic. We did not know if we would be open. We were waiting and waiting for the very last minutes. If you wait things can run out, prices can go up and all sorts of anomalies can come up, so it is more likely that you need to change your neat little menu and the corresponding wines. On the upside if you have the menu ready you can decide about the wine than you can order things in well in time. On the downside if you get locked down last minute, then you are well stocked with expensive and costly food and drinks for January which generally is slim pickings at best after a worse than horrible financial year. Impossible choices…

At the end we got locked down, so no menu has been made, no wines had been matched. The first time in 28 years.
